Team Members

Founders

Cornerstone Architecture was founded in 1991 by Richard Hammond and Alison Hannay, based on engaging clients in the process of designing their buildings, involving their organizations, and respecting their ability to decide what best meets their objectives.

Richard Hammond

Founder

A graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo, Richard is a Principal Architect and practice leader for the firm’s work in design for elders. Richard also leads the firm’s work in green and high performing buildings, having completed graduate programs in sustainability and the environment at both Arizona State University and the University of Waterloo. Richard is also a graduate of Singularity University’s Executive Program in Palo Alto, and maintains contact with this international network of leaders in emerging technologies.

Alison Hannay

Founder

A graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo, Alison is a Principal Architect and practice leader in the firm’s work in design for education, for community, as well as for children and families. Alison has been engaged in advocacy for women in construction, and currently serves at the President of the London & District Construction Association.

Associate Architects

Jason McIntyre

A graduate of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism at Carleton University, Jason is an Associate Architect and leads the firm’s technology systems and construction standards. He has had extensive experience with high performing buildings including LEED, Green Globes, and Net Zero certifications.

Ryan Ollson

A graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo, Ryan is an Associate Architect and leads the firm’s design processes. He also led the firm’s winning submission to the Ontario Association of Architects 2019 SHIFT Infrastructure Architecture Challenge.
